Ilhan Omar raises $830,000 for re-election campaign amid Donald Trump feud

Trump blasts Pelosi ‘out of control’ Omar in latest attack

- Ilhan Omar, one of the first two Muslim women in the US Congress, drew stern rebukes from Republicans and fellow Democrats on February 11, 2019 after suggesting US support for Israel is fueled by money from the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC. "It's absolutely abhorrent the comments that she continues to make and has made and they look the other way".

It comes after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced a new "security assessment to safeguard" the lawmaker. This means that despite Omar's controversial and offensive statements-or perhaps because of them-thousands of Democrats across the country rallied to support her.

Ms Omar said in a statement posted on Twitter on Sunday that numerous increased threats she had received were "directly referencing or replying to the President's video". Trump also called Omar "ungrateful" during a trip to her home state of Minnesota on Monday.

Fox News Channel host Brian Kilmeade said on a "Fox & Friends" segment on Omar, "You have to wonder if she's an American first".

On Saturday, CAIR condemned the president's comments on social media, calling it a "life-endangering" tweet from a president who uses "shocking imagery" to potentially incite violence against a sitting Congresswoman while "exploiting a national tragedy" at the same time.

"I will do everything in my power, and I hope that every member of Congress will fight not only anti-Semitism, but racism and anti-Muslim activity so that we create a non-discriminatory society", Sanders said.

First Alert Weather Day: Tornado Watch issued for Coastal Empire & Lowcountry area
The 13-year-old boy drowned in a drainage area in West Monroe late Saturday afternoon, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office said. At least 11 tornadoes have touched down in three different states as a result of a stronger-than-usual storm system.

Twitter allowed tweets threatening Rep. Ilhan Omar's life to remain publicly visible on the platform over the weekend so law enforcement could investigate them.

What followed was a vicious cycle of thunderous conservative indignation, complete with President Donald Trump tweeting a video mashing up Omar's remarks with footage the planes hitting the Twin Towers, followed by an overreaching liberal backlash against the backlash, in which Democratic presidential contenders Beto O'Rourke and Sen.

Trump received widespread criticism from Democrats after posting a video of Omar's selectively edited speech before the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

She previously came under fire for her comments about Israel and the strength of the Jewish state's influence in Washington. Why Ilhan keeps getting targeted is because she is an unapologetic black Muslim woman, and her real crime in the eyes of those attacking her is that she dares to speak out and to act like she's equal. The video showed Omar's describing the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, as "some people did something", intercut with footage of the burning Twin Towers.

On Sunday, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Mr Trump wishes "no ill will and certainly not violence" towards the first-term lawmaker.

Shapiro said he was not surprised by Omar's remarks about 9/11, saying she has "a long history of not taking terrorism particularly seriously".
