According to the report, at about 10 am, the auto intentionally rammed the official vehicle of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, which was parked near the diplomatic department.

The Ukrainian Embassy did not confirm if anyone was inside the ambassador's vehicle at the time but confirmed no one was injured.

It was also driven at police officers, which the embassy said forced them "to open fire on the perpetrator's vehicle".

It is not known if the man in the auto was wounded, but he was eventually removed from the vehicle and detained by police. She added that officers arrived "very quick" and saw "many police cars coming".

Officers used firearms and a Taser before arresting a man on suspicion of attempted murder.
