Waterloo researcher among global team unveiling first image of a black hole

At the Event Horizon Astrophysicists Set to Reveal First

"The gravitational pull bends the light into this sphere shape".

What do we see in the image? . Also what we might see might be a very low resolution version of the black hole depicted in that film.

"As an astrophysicist, this is a thrilling day for me", said National Science Foundation Director France A. Córdova. "Numerous features of the observed image match our theoretical understanding surprisingly well", said Paul T.P. Ho, a board member on the project and director of the East Asian Observatory.

This illustrationmost-distant supermassive black hole ever discovered.

Feeling a tug from the black hole's strong gravitational field doesn't automatically mean the photons will disappear into the black hole, Broderick explained.

It is this point-of-no-return precipice, called the Event Horizon, that astronomers have tried to observe for the first time.

The astronomers added the red and gold colors to the image so it would be easier to see.

Kodak Black faces backlash over comments about Nipsey Hussle's girlfriend
He's also been criticised for using homophobic lyrics referencing rapper Young M.A on a song released earlier this year. The controversy also comes at a time when Kodak , who changed his legal name from Dieuson Octave to Bill K.

The star-devouring monsters were predicted by Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity, as solved in 1915 by the German physicist Karl Schwarzschild.

Black holes, phenomenally dense celestial entities, are extraordinarily hard to observe by their very nature despite their great mass. One light-year is 5.9 trillion miles, or 9.5 trillion kilometers.

The black holes are expected to appear "as a tiny shadow backlit by the glow of radio energy at the galactic center". It is billions of times more massive than the sun.

Images of SgrA are likely to show a lopsided ring of brightness due to gravity bending light closer to the black hole more strongly than light further away.

Peter Galison, a physics professor at Harvard University who co-founded Harvard's interdisciplinary Black Hole Initiative (BHI), compared the imagery's potential impact to that of the drawings made by English scientist Robert Hooke in the 1600s, which showed people what insects and plants look like through a microscope, the report said.

Myth says a black hole would rip you apart, but scientists said that because of the particular forces exerted by an object as big as the one they documented, someone could fall into it and not be torn to pieces. But the person would never be heard from again. This could be a whole new era of understanding black holes. Some were created by artists, and others were based on data gathered from telescopes. Completing the image was an enormous undertaking, involving an global team of scientists, supercomputers, hundreds of terabytes of data.

Scientists across the world are very excited about the breakthrough picture.
