PSN Online ID Change Available Today

PSN Name Change Critical Issues Sony 1

Until now. Sony is finally delivering on its delayed promise to let users change their PSN names.

The feature is being rolled out on both PlayStation 4 consoles and web browsers tomorrow.

Here's how it works: all PSN users will get the first ID change for free, but every subsequent change will cost you €4.99 (with PS+) or €9.99 (without PS+). If you do not own a PS4, you can not change your ID through PS3 or Vita.

If you are going to continue to play those games, or indeed games on PS3 or PS Vita, then probably best not to change your name. On the other hand, those who wish to make the change online can log-in to their PSN Account and click the edit button next to the PSN ID.

You can find lists here of games that have been certified to work with the name change, games that may have minor issues, and games that have critical issues (sorry to all the hardcore fans of Just Dance 2017 out there). The first change is free for everyone, which is great and all, but it turns out that a lot of games might not support your name change.

Q: How many times can I change my ID?

Q: If I change my online ID multiple times, can I revert back to any of my past IDs?

Australian arrested over New Zealand shooting massacre to face 50 murder charges
This morning, Judge Mader ordered that two assessments would be carried out to determine the state of the suspect's mental health. New Zealand police on Thursday filed 49 counts of murder against Tarrant, bringing the total number of murder charges to 50.

To avoid confusing friends, you can opt to have your old ID display next to the new one for 30 days.

To change your online ID in your web browser you'll need to log in to your PlayStation Network account and select "PSN Profile" in the menu. Potential risks include losing progress in certain games, some games may not function properly, and you may even lose content (even paid for content) for certain games. This is because games published after April 1, 2018 were developed using tools supporting the change at a system level. Sony has reported "critical issues" in big games like Bloodborne and Grand Theft Auto V while testing.

The ability to change your PSN Online ID will be available for games published since 1 April 2018.

For example: a game released in 2015 has been re-mastered or re-sold as a complete edition in 2018 will not support the ID change feature.

According to Sony, a large majority of the "most-played PS4 games" tested support the feature.

Below are some of the issues you may encounter. Reverting back should resolve most issues.
