Trump struggles with a growing problem on the border

Pelosi says Democrats will sue President Trump to prevent him from stealing money to build a border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border

Twenty states have filed a motion to block Trump's attempt to divert federal funds through an emergency declaration, the NY state attorney general said on Friday.

That's an apparent mirage as Trump retreats from his latest threat to seal off the US from Mexico.

"I am very anxious that I will be accosted if I am sent back home, '" Trump said. The California Democrat says money transfers to the wall have "undermined our democracy" and flout "the vote of the bipartisan Congress, the will of the American people and the letter of the Constitution".

Trump declared a national emergency in February, a move that came after a partial government shutdown and was met with outcry from members of both parties who claimed he was interfering with Congress.

At the roundtable - which preceded a visit to the global border site in Calexico, a town of 40,000 people about two hours east of San Diego - Trump also continued to dismiss migrants' claims of persecution, saying they were mainly gang members who had been coached by lawyers.

The President visited the Del Rio Sector to have a first- hand inspection of the wall.

The remarks, following a week of back-and-forth threats to close the border, risked further muddying the USA relationship with its second-largest trading partner. Border officials have said they need 722 miles (1,162 km) of new or replacement barriers.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans Manchester United summer spree in bid for title
United took the initiative until three substitutions disrupted the flow of the game, and it was Wolves who took full advantage by completing the turnaround with 13 minutes remaining.

The shift comes amid the growing wave of Central American economic migrants who are using Obama-era legal loopholes to walk through the border wall and into jobs, neighborhoods, and blue-collar schools throughout the United States. So the border wall works for us.

Although about 650 miles of the U.S. -Mexico is fenced off, no new border barriers have been erected during Trump's presidency.

Trump said he was giving Mexico one year to get the cross-border drug trade down or see him impose tariffs at 25 percent.

It was not immediately clear if Trump's demand for Mexico to crack down on the flow of migrants also faces a one year deadline or has to be satisfied in the near future.

"Mexico has been absolutely terrific for the last four days", the president claimed, as he spoke to reporters as he left the White House.

Earlier Trump said in Washington that the danger of shutting down their border is working slowly because Mexican officials have started to stop people from going to America. He emphasized that it was fuelled by US demand. Arrests along the southern border have soared in recent months, and border agents were on track to make 100,000 arrests or denials of entry in March, a 12-year high. According to a Rice University study, "Mexico has deported more than half a million Central Americans, even surpassing U.S. deportation figures in some years" since 2014.

In the meantime, tensions between agencies and at the White House have been bubbling up. "It's a scam. It's a hoax", Trump said. This strategy, put in place in 1994 by President Bill Clinton, focused immigration enforcement on population centers, effectively shunting migrants off to more harsh, remote crossings.
