Xiaomi introduces Super Charge Trubo 100W fast charging technology

Redmi phones to be the first to get Xiaomis 100 W Super Charge Turbo technology

Xiaomi has come up with a 100W charging method capable of charging a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in a stunning 17 minutes, leaving the previous record holder in the dust.

Most fast chargers take between an hour and two hours to fill a phone's battery, and SuperVOOC can do the job in just over 30 minutes. Other than that, no other information about the technology had been shared.

Smartphone makers are racing to design the fastest charging technology for mobile devices.

Currently, Xiaomi only offers up to 27W wired fast charging on its smartphones.

Xiaomi is probably working on integrating Super Charge Turbo into its next Redmi flagship (or perhaps a folding phone), but let's hope they take all the safety precautions to avoid another Note 7-like disaster. The Chinese company is now moving on to something bigger with its 100W "Super Charge Turbo" technology. That might change in the future, as Xiaomi's engineers have reportedly developed a much faster charging solution than what OPPO has to offer. While Lu Weibing confirmed that Redmi will be the first to mass produce this technology, he has not provided any timeline for this development. In comparison, Oppo's 50W solution had only charged a 3,700mAh battery to 65% in the same timeframe.

As exciting as the latest innovations in smartphone design over the past several months have been, numerous key technologies that power those phones aren't advancing at quite the same speed. As hinted by a new teaser, Xiaomi is also expected to debut in the league of various tech companies launching their fast charging tech.
