Ethiopian crash: France accepts black box analysis, United States grounds Boeing

Norwegian Air Shuttle to demand Boeing pay for grounding of planes

Airlines that serve Logan Airport are responding to the FAA's emergency order to ground Boeing 737 Max aircraft following Sunday's deadly Ethiopia Airlines crash in Addis Ababa.

Plane tracking app Flightradar24 has been following the status of all the 737 MAX 8 aircraft, and overnight there was just one flight left in the skies.

With the Canadian government grounding Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 aircraft citing safety concerns, 41 Canadian airline-owned jets have been taken out of service.

He said there are similarities between the Ethiopian Airlines flight profile and that of a Lion Air flight involving the same aircraft that crashed off the Indonesian coast in October.

TUKO.co.ke had earlier reported a number of other nations across world had also grounded Boeing 737 Max 8 jets to ensure passenger safety.

Southwest is the world's largest operator of the 737 MAX 8 with 34 jets.

Transport Minister Marc Garneau said at a news conference on Wednesday that the decision to ground the planes is a precautionary move after reviewing the evidence.

According to NBC News, Southwest Airlines had the most flights with the Boeing Max planes in the United States with about 150 flights per day out of the airline's total of about 4,100 flights daily.

Donald Trump reviving border wall fight with new budget request
With Democrats controlling the House of Representatives, Mr Trump's new wall-funding request appears to stand little chance. The national emergency declaration unsettled many lawmakers, including some of his key allies in the Senate.

Despite Boeing's assurances in the wake of the disaster, the European Union, Britain and India joined China and other countries grounding the plane or banning it from their airspace as they await the results of the crash investigation.

It may take several days to complete the first analysis of the flight data and cockpit voice recorders, a spokesman for France's bureau of civil aviation safety (BEA) said.

Trump and the Federal Aviation Administration announced Wednesday all Max 8 and the longer Max 9 planes won't fly for the time being.

The acting administrator of the FAA, Daniel Elwell, said he did not know how long the USA grounding of the aircraft would last.

Southwest Airlines issued a statement saying the company will comply, but it remains confident in the safety airworthiness of its entire fleet.

"That mistake is driven by market forces trying to make the plane more competitive against Airbus, at a lower price, at least as far as training", said Charles Herrmann, the principle attorney with the firm leading the lawsuit.

U.S. airlines that operate the 737 MAX, Southwest Airlines Co, American Airlines Group Inc and United Airlines, said they were working to re-book passengers.
