Lions set to sign Trey Flowers

New England Patriots defensive end Trey Flowers reacts after sacking New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold during the second half of an NFL football game Sunday Dec. 30 2018 in Foxborough Mass

Make no mistake, Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia get some cred points in my book for making this happen. You can't become the Patriots by stealing their players. With incentives, it can bring him up to $5.75-million.

No, Amendola did not re-sign with the Patriots, as some speculated.

The fourth-round pick of the Patriots in 2015 has had 21 sacks over the past three seasons, including 7.5 a year ago. That's where the Lions are going wrong. Quinn also rose up New England's ranks to director of pro scouting, a position he held for four years.

Their most recent starter at that position, Justin Coleman, reportedly agreed to a four-year, $36 million deal with the Detroit Lions on Monday, the start of National Football League offseason's legal tampering period. And, of course, the Lions also signed Amendola. Given the money receivers have received so far, he likely will be out of the Patriots' price range, but the team will certainly be monitoring his situation. Flowers and Amendola have won two Super Bowls.

Most players leave in free agency.

Arsenal end Solskjaer run with 2-0 win over Man United
Solskjaer was furious that Moss ruled Fred's challenge on Alexandre Lacazette was worthy of a spot-kick in the 69th minute.

Schefter added that it's a five-year deal for Flowers with the Lions.

In three postseason games this year, he had six tackles, two sacks and six quarterback hits.

Belichick is the king of letting go.

The Lions were desperate for a pass-rusher, and Flowers was arguably the best one available in free agency. Tate was traded to the Eagles from the Lions at the deadline last season.
