Real Madrid set to re-appoint Zidane after Solari is sacked

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane puts Thibaut Courtois future in doubt- Father's concerns

Current coach at Real Madrid Santiago Solari is presently under serious pressure following the club's exit in the Champions League with reports indicating that he would be sacked soon.

The Frenchman, who won three consecutive Champions Leagues in two-and-a-half years at the Santiago Bernabéu, has been convinced to take over again - signing a new contract until June 2022 - following a week in which Madrid were defeated three times in a row at home.

Shortly after Zidane left, Cristiano Ronaldo announced he was leaving to join Juventus, and Madrid has endured an up-and-down season which led to the humiliating losses to Barcelona and Ajax at the Bernabeu.

"What I think is that this team needs to continue winning but I think it needs a change, a different voice, another methodology", he said at a news conference explaining his resignation previous year. The results eliminated the club from the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, and ended its hopes of winning the Spanish league.

And when they lost 4-1 to Ajax in their Champions League last-16 second leg, there was no way back for Solari.

Sergio Ramos has hinted he will stay at Real Madrid even if Jose Mourinho is reappointed insisting he will "always support" the club's manager.

Madrid sit 12 points adrift of Barca in the table despite a 4-1 victory over Real Valladolid on Sunday, which proved to be Solari's final game in charge.

But when he left, Zidane hinted that he could return one day.

Real now lie in third place in La Liga, 12 points behind leaders and arch rivals Barcelona and neighbors Atletico Madrid.

Solari was handed a contract until 2021 after overseeing an improvement following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui in November.

"There's no problem whatsoever and everybody has the same interest: Real Madrid".

Zidane was the standout favourite for Florentino Perez and the Real Madrid president was willing to do whatever it took to get him back on side.

During his first spell with the club, over the course of less than three seasons, he managed to win nine trophies.
