Democrat Amy Klobuchar to contest for United States president in 2020 election

In other words, Klobuchar is a better fit for rural America than a liberal from the East or West coasts. We are all exhausted of the shutdowns and the putdowns, of the gridlock and the grandstanding.

"Today, on this snowy day, on this island, we say, enough is enough".

Trump has already taken aim at Warren, mocking her proclamation of Native American heritage.

The president tweeted: "Well, it happened again. Bad timing. By the end of her speech, she looked like a Snowman (woman)", Trump tweeted on Sunday. They also reported high levels of turnover among Klobuchar staff as compared to other senators.

She also used the speech to highlight her ability to work across the aisle with Republicans and her campaign priorities, including healthcare, an issue set to be heavily debated during her party's nominating race. Huffington Post and BuzzFeed News were among the outlets that quoted former aides who weren't identified.

"There is quite a bit of, a lot of meaning behind where she is doing this", the adviser said.

"I can be tough".

The I-35W Mississippi River bridge collapsed in August 2007, killing 13 people.

"But that sense of community is fracturing across our nation right now, worn down by the petty and vicious nature of our politics", Klobuchar said.

"She's a neighbor, has always been working to elect Democrats in Iowa and established herself as a Democrat who gets things done".

Martial can reach Ronaldo's level, says Solskjaer
United are boosted by the fact that Neymar and Edinson Cavani are both out of the fixture with injury. It is an all-PSG defence in front of him, though, including a spot for veteran full-back Dani Alves .

Ms Klobuchar dismissed reports that she is hard to work for, saying she has high expectations for the people who work for her.

Klobuchar, 58, has never lost an election.

"We're starting in Wisconsin because as we remember, there wasn't a lot of campaigning in Wisconsin in 2016", Klobuchar told reporters. Amy Klobuchar endured frigid temperatures to gather Sunday afternoon just outside downtown Minneapolis for her "big announcement": that she is the latest to enter the increasingly crowded Democratic field for president. But she now faces at least 10 Democratic rivals, and isn't well-known nationally like some of them. Eight of Klobuchar's nine appearances on the Sunday shows in 2018 occurred in the last nine months. I don't have a political machine. "Because like you and I, they believe in science", Klobuchar said. But what I do have is this: I have grit. Some supporters even arrived on skis.

"I'm not concerned about that". "And it's really important that we hear from all parts of the country and have someone in the White House who has people's backs".

Klobuchar was the valedictorian of her public high school, and she earned a degree in political science from Yale University while spending a summer working as a construction worker, pounding stakes into the ground for the Minnesota Highway Department.

Klobuchar said she would travel next weekend to Iowa, home to the nation's first caucus, joking it's "a place where we in Minnesota like to go south for the winter". In her three elections to the U.S. Senate, she has won handily.

Klobuchar is in her third six-year term as U-S Senator and was formerly a prosecutor and a corporate attorney.

Klobuchar's speech included several policy proposals, which is unusual for a campaign kickoff.

She said she supports increasing "shared prosperity", adding, "We won't get there if people can't afford their health care and that means getting to universal health care and bringing down the costs of prescription drugs". Her name has been floated in the past as a potential Supreme Court nominee and as a possible vice presidential pick for Clinton in 2016.
