Emiliano Sala: French club Nantes 'demand transfer fee' from Cardiff

Emiliano Sala

Nantes are threatening to take legal action against Cardiff City if the Premier League side refuses to stump up the Emiliano Sala club-record transfer fee.

Emiliano Sala's former team Nantes is reportedly demanding transfer payment from Cardiff.

Cardiff's first payment would ordinarily be due within seven days of the player signing, but the club do not intend to make any payments until the conclusion of official investigations into the causes of his disappearance.

Cardiff have not yet paid any of the £15m fee for the Argentine striker, according to Sky sources.

And Cardiff are "surprised" Nantes have made the demand while attempts are being made to recover a body from the plane wreck that was carrying Sala and pilot Ibbotson.

Russian Federation withdrawing from nuclear arms treaty following U.S. move
Following the U.S. notice of withdrawal from the treaty in six months, Mr Putin said that Russian Federation will do the same. The row over the treaty has drawn a strong reaction from Europe and China.

Authorities haven't said if the body located by an underwater camera was Sala or pilot David Ibbotson, the only people on board.

Cardiff will honor the deal but have been reluctant to make a payment until they know "all the facts".

It is also reported that Bordeaux are entitled to a cut of the fee for Argentinian striker Sala, who was on their books from 2012 to 2015 before joining Nantes.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) are now trying to recover a body from the wreckage, although there is no confirmation whether the body identified is Sala's. The wreckage was discovered on the seabed of the English Channel.

'Strong tidal conditions mean we can only use the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for limited periods each day and this will mean that progress is slow, ' the AAIB confirmed on Tuesday.
