Former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel David Rubin weigh in on the effectiveness of border walls.

Israel has started construction of an "above-ground barrier" on the Gaza border to keep terrorists from infiltrating overland, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.

Israeli forces stopped armed terrorists who penetrated across the Gaza border into Israel.

The new upgraded security barrier is to stretch some 65 kilometers (40 miles) from the Kerem Shalom Crossing in the south to the recently-completed 200-meter sea barrier near Zikkim beach along Israel's Mediterranean coast in the north.

It is being built along the same line cut by an underground barrier that is being constructed to prevent the infiltration of cross-border terror tunnels.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has officially ceased all assistance to Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.

A senior official Saeb Erekat said the Palestinian Authority has sent a letter to the U.S. state department asking them to end funding because of a fear of lawsuits. Sources added that Israeli forces claimed that the knife was found in his possession and was allegedly planning to carry out a stabbing attack against the soldiers.

In April, Saar Koursh, then-CEO of Magal Security Systems Ltd., which built the existing Gaza fence, said that thousands of Palestinians marching on the Gaza Strip's border could trample the 10-foot-high structure that separates the Hamas-ruled territory from Israel. At least 246 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in Gaza since March 30.

Knives carried by terrorists into Israel on February 3.

They discussed earlier Friday with Islamic Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh on the reinforcement of a calm understanding reached with Israel in November, according to Haniyeh.
