Mohamed Salah Wins African Player Of The Year

Africa’s best of the year The winner is the winners are

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah was crowned African footballer of the year for the second time in a row on Tuesday night, but much of the talk was about the Liverpool star's clunky dancefloor moves at the glitzy ceremony.

In what was reminiscent of his triumph past year, Salah beat off competitions from Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to secure the much coveted individual award for a second consecutive time at Tuesday evening's ceremony in Dakar.

Mohamed Salah was impressive last season for Liverpool scoring 32 Premier League goals and also helped his team to reach the final of the 2017/18 Champions League.

They are joined by the likes of former Reds target Kalidou Koulibaly, Man City's Riyad Mahrez and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It was a good day for Egyptian football all round, with Egypt being awarded the right to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Mane scored in every round of Europe's top-tier tournament, netting 10 in 11 games, in a season that saw him score 20 and assist nine in 44 games in all competitions, while so far this season he has nine goals and three assists in 26.

Trump to Apple: Make the iPhone in the USA , not China
Analysts had been expecting revenues of around $91bn, according to market analyst FactSet. He added that overall, "consumption growth" is slowing down across China.

The Egyptian had his share of setbacks past year, too, with an injury in the Champions League final loss to Real Madrid also keeping him out of a World Cup defeat by Uruguay.

Salah blossomed in Rome, averaging close to a goal every two matches, and Liverpool paid nearly 37 million pounds (about $47 mn/41 mn euros) to sign him two years ago.

He also scored twice for the Pharaohs at the Russia World Cup.

He became the first player to do so after Ivory Coast's Yaya Toure, who claimed it four years in a row between 2011 and 2014.

Houston Dash and South Africa forward Thembi Kgatlana was named Women's Player of the Year.

The Goal of the Year award also went to Kgatlana.
