Don’t worry, that big change to Instagram wasn’t permanent

Your Instagram feed now scrolls sideways for no good reason

The bug led to a small test being distributed widely, the company said.

On Thursday, many users had to tap or swipe horizontally through their Instagram feed, versus vertically.

The switch to horizontal scrolling was met with immediate hostility from many users, including some high-profile names.

That's the good news, but the bad news is that Instagram is clearly strongly considering making the horizontal feed a reality for all users in the near future.

As of now, Instagram has not made any statements on today's developments.

If you're still seeing the update, Mosseri suggests closing out and launching the app again.

Steelers rule James Conner out, JuJu Smith-Schuster questionable
Guard Ramon Foster said keeping Conner out until the playoffs might be best in order to keep him fresh, ESPN notes. I can walk around fine, not limping around, but when I'm out there on the field, cutting and stuff, not ready yet.

Typically, an Instagram feed goes up and down, with a user able to flick their finger through a number of photos. "We apologize for any confusion", a representative said.

Within minutes the test was rolled back, and the head of Instagram explained that the broad release had been a mistake. Just restart your app and you'll see things returned back to the way things were.

Instagram seemed to roll out a new sideways-scrolling format Thursday - and quickly rolled it back after an online outcry including snide comments about Tinder, reported NBC News. Many people were not happy.

Although the change is as simple as scrolling left and right instead of up and down, it entirely changes the way in which users are accustomed to looking at posts on their newsfeed.

The following video shows how the tap-to-advance in the feed worked on Instagram.
