Fresh Prince star is suing Fortnite over The Carlton Dance

Fresh Prince star sues Epic over Fortnite’s use of the Carlton dance

As TMZ reported, Ferguson's claim was almost identical to Ribeiro's: the rapper said Epic profited off his likeness - in this case, his "Milly Rock" dance - without compensation or consent.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro is suing the creators of Fortnite and National Basketball Association 2K for using his famous dance on the popular video games.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro is suing Fortnite for allegedly stealing his famous Carlton Dance.

"Epic has earned record profits off of downloadable content in the game, including emotes like 'Fresh, '" Ribeiro's lawyer David Hecht wrote in an email statement to CBC News.

Ribeiro has also filed an identical suit against 2K Games, which makes the National Basketball Association 2K series of games.

Last month, rapper 2 Milly sued Fortnite for using his move, the "Milly Rock", which the game calls "Swipe It".

The lawsuit contends that the game includes an in-game purchase titled "Fresh", which is used to customize avatars used by players in the video game.

Toronto one of dozens of cities dealing with bomb threat hoaxes
Calgary police have determined the multiple bomb threats sent out are a hoax and believe there is no threat to public safety. At this time they have found the threats to be not credible so far. "They are not targeted toward any one specific sector".

IGN has reached out to Epic Games for comment. It's worth noting that dance moves, usually, can't legally be owned.

This is not the first suit filed against Fortnite; in fact, multiple artists and celebrities have taken issue with the game's free usage of material.

Numerous emotes used in the video game are heavily based on popular real-life moves.

Former Scrubs star Donald Faison, who famously danced to Poison by Bel Biv Devoe on the hospital sitcom, also claims Fortnite "jacked" his moves.

But now one of those dances, called "Fresh", is the subject of a lawsuit from actor Alfonso Ribeiro.

The Fortnite video game uses the "Floss" dance after a win, but Horning accused the company of including the dance move without his permission and without compensating him. Known by most as "Backpack Kid", Russell Horning is the brains behind that incredibly irritating dance, The Floss, The Daily Mail reports.
