Qualcomm aims to ban iPhone XS and iPhone XR in China too

PACERA selection from the complaint

Earlier this week, Apple was dealt a fresh blow when chipmaker Qualcomm said that a Chinese court had ordered a ban on the sale of several different iPhone models. Let's dive in to see some more details on the matter.

Apple, facing a court ban in China on some of its iPhone models over alleged infringement of Qualcomm patents, said on Friday (Dec 14) it will push software updates to users in a bid to resolve potential issues.

On Monday, a statement from Qualcomm said the Fuzhou Intermediate People's Court had granted the U.S. chip maker's request for two preliminary injunctions against four subsidiaries of Apple, ordering them to immediately stop selling models from the iPhone 6S to iPhone X in China.

For now, Qualcomm believes the ban is already in force, but all models of iPhone remain available to purchase in China. In China, Qualcomm has accused Apple that their old iPhones use some software animations or features which infringe on their patents.

Dolphins' Kenyan Drake seeks game-winning football from Patriots game
The play, called "Boise", was easily one of the biggest plays in recent franchise history, up there with wide. The Dolphins proved that. "I collapsed - just the emotion of the whole thing", Tannehill said.

Don Rosenberg, executive vice president and general counsel of Qualcomm, said: "Apple continues to disregard and violate the Fuzhou court's orders".

Apple admitted that if it can not avoid the Chinese sales ban, it will be forced to settle with Qualcomm. Furthermore, it was also stated that it could potentially cause irreparable damage to anyone involved. Obviously, the consumers and the government would also be affected. I mean, even if Qualcomm manages to win the case, the patents in question, won't be infringed by Apple's new iOS 12. Share your views with us in the comments section below. Apple's response underscores the importance of the Chinese market, as well as Qualcomm's crucial role as a technology provider to the likes of Huawei Technologies Co. and Xiaomi Corp. Qualcomm has countered that Apple is using its intellectual property without paying for it, and the legal cases are aimed at forcing it to lower licensing charges.

Apple will return to court to contest the preliminary injunction, making a note of this software update.
