Heisman Trophy history: three quarterbacks of color

Murray Wins Davey O'Brien Award

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray split top honors on a college football awards night that only has momentum building towards Saturday night's Heisman Trophy announcement. For the first time since 2008, when Oklahoma's Sam Bradford, Texas' Colt McCoy and Florida's Tim Tebow were the Heisman finalists, only quarterbacks were invited to NY for the trophy presentation.

Oklahoma's Kyler Murray won The Associated Press college football Player of the Year on Thursday, becoming the second straight Sooners quarterback and fifth overall to win the award since it was established in 1998.

Tagovailoa, a 2017 Saint Louis School graduate, beat out Murray, Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II, West Virginia quarterback Will Grier and Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen for the Camp Award.

Murray lost out on the Maxwell award to Tagovailoa.

Earlier this week, Tagovailoa was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

George Conway Retweets Attack on Trump After Son's Slam
The rebuke came after Trump said on Twitter his pal Roger Stone has "guts" for not wanting to testify against him. Stone has said he expected to get indicted by Mueller.

Murray is having a historic season.

After taking part in a little more than 30 minutes worth of interviews, Murray moved down to the floor of the stock exchange, eventually making his way with Tagovailoa and Haskins to the balcony where they rang the closing bell. But after a campaign that could see him enshrined as college football royalty, Murray might want to try to have his cake and eat it too. The last Walter Camp victor to miss out on the Heisman was Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o.

Murray is the first FBS player to enter bowl season averaging at least 300.0 passing yards (311.8) and at least 60.0 rushing yards (68.6) per game. No other school has had more than two players win AP Player of the Year.

Or will the Heisman go to Murray? Jackson won the Heisman that season.
