Blizzard reportedly pulled a Diablo 4 teaser from BlizzCon 2018

Blizzard president on Diablo Immortal:

There have been quite a few mobile games that have been successful this year, including Fortnite.

Keep in mind Blizzcon isn't an event just anyone goes to. Diablo Immortal will also feature Battle.net integration. The company's online gaming service, Blizzard Battle.net®, is one of the largest online-gaming services in the world, with millions of active players. In an interview with Digital Trends, co-founder Allen Adham elaborated on the developer's plans. "You see it in a smaller scale when we announced Diablo on console and when we said we're going to do Overwatch on PC and console". We were already expecting Diablo news at this year's show, but this is most definitely not what people had in mind. A stream of videos delving into various levels of overreaction pop up, highlighting the criticisms some had with the community's response to the announcement.

We know what many of you are hoping for and we can only say that "good things come to those who wait", but evil things often take longer.

That's pretty self-explanatory, no? Those sources also said that Diablo 4 is now in development, although the team isn't "ready to commit to an announcement" as the game has gone through many big changes over the last four years.

The release of BlizzCon 2018's panel schedule added more speculation, as Diablo was given the first panel slot on the main stage, having fans think that would lead to a big announcement.

Election Day Deals: Show Your ‘I Voted’ Sticker For A Freebie
California Tortilla: New Jersey and CT voters who say "I voted" can enjoy free chips and queso with any in-store purchase. For example: Potbelly Sandwich Shop initially made their free cookie offer available to those who had "I voted" stickers.

Unfortunately, this is hard to avoid.

"There are actually two distinct teams", Adham said. It's why we make games and why we've made games for nearly three decades now - and why our community is so passionate about our franchises. We want them to know this isn't instead of other things we're doing, and in fact we're doing a lot, and this is additive. "We do continue to have different teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects, and we look forward to announcing when the time is right". The move sounds like it would have been very similar to Bethesda's Elder Scrolls 6 announcement at E3, an entirely insubstantial statement of the obvious that nonetheless had fans in a much happier frenzy. The note read, "Blizzard severely miscalculated how their fans would respond, which suggests they aren't in touch with their players as maybe they should be".

So Why All the Outrage?

I sat in the BlizzCon audience when the announcement hit and the reaction was muted, and it's soured over time. With "multiple Diablo" projects in the works, including the fourth installment to the franchise, one such rumor stated that Diablo 4 was initially meant to debut in Immortal's place but was cut at the last second.
