Eliopoulos confirmed another girl is in critical condition.

One young girl remains in critical condition at this time.

The 21-year-old is in custody and is expected to be charged with four counts of homicide through the negligent use of a vehicle, Mr Sokup told the Star-Tribune.

The Ford F-150 was traveling northbound when it crossed over a lane of traffic and into the ditch, where it struck the group, Lake Hallie police Sgt. Daniel Sokup said.

Police said 21-year-old Colten Treu was driving a pick-up truck that left the road and hit the troop.

"Our hearts are with our Girl Scout sisters in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin", Girl Scouts CEO Sylvia Acevedo said in a statement.

"The Lake Hallie Police Department would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the families involved", police said in a statement.

Grief counselors will be available for local students at school on Monday. "We grieve with you", the department posted on Facebook.

The three girls killed are Girl Scouts. His passenger in the vehicle also turned himself in. Two girls and a parent died at the scene. Sergeant Dan Sokup says one victim was air lifted to the hospital and one victim was taken by ambulance.
