Another Kavanaugh accuser admits to fabricating rape story

On Friday, a woman named Judy Munro-Leighton admitted writing an anonymous letter with allegations against the conservative jurist.

At the time that the allegations surfaced, Judge Kavanaugh called the accusation "ridiculous", adding, " [T] he whole thing is just a crock, farce, wrong, didn't happen, not anything close".

And 89 days after President Donald Trump nominated Kavanaugh to the nation's highest court, he was confirmed by the Senate, on October 6, 2018, by a vote of 50-48.

In Swetnick's case, the committee probe unearthed evidence that both the accuser and her attorney, Michael Avenatti, conspired to lie to the committee and obstruct the investigation. "Kamala Harris on September 19 with details of this vicious assault". Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) referred those involved for criminal investigation.

She has now been referred to the justice department, and reports also say that the Federal Bureau of Investigation will interrogate her.

Investigators found no evidence to support either woman's claims. "Judy Munro-Leighton for investigation of potential violations of 18 U.S.C. §§ 1001 (materially false statements) and 1505 (obstruction), for materially false statements she made to the Committee during the course of the Committee's investigation". Munro-Leighton later claimed in an email to the committee to be the Jane Doe who wrote the letter, media reported.

"I was angry, and I sent it out", Munro-Leighton said of her sexual assault allegation.

Lewis Wing grabbed the only goal in first-half injury time with a swerving shot from long range. The passing wasn't as sharp as it normally is, and the last 10-15 minutes we lost control.

Grassley said looking into Munro-Leighton's claims diverted resources on a time-sensitive manner.

"When directly asked by Committee investigators if she was - as she had claimed - the "Jane Doe" from Oceanside, California, who had sent the letter to Senator Harris, she admitted, 'No, no, no".

Once the Senate Judiciary Committee staff heard Judge Kavanaugh's denial and learned Monro-Leighton's identity, they began to do some research into her past. She said in her testimony that she was "100 percent" certain she was assaulted by Kavanaugh.

One of Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh's accusers admitted this week that she made up her lurid tale of a backseat auto rape, saying it "was a tactic" to try to derail the judge's confirmation to the Supreme Court.

She then included a typed version of the Jane Doe letter.

She also admitted that she was using a "tactic" and a "ploy" to get this accusation more attention in hopes that it would sink Judge Kavanaugh's nomination. It's not clear at this time if these concerns had to do with the reporting of a specific threat - again, they say its just "an abundance of caution" - but it has been reported in the past the Kavanaugh and his family have received death threats.

Kavanaugh was confirmed on 6 October by a 50-48 Senate vote following the most acrimonious and divisive confirmation process in a generation.
