Mega Millions Grows to Largest Prize Ever

Mega Millions

The next Mega Millions draw will be on Tuesday, after no one hit all of the numbers of 15, 23, 53, 65, 70 and the Mega Ball 7 during Friday night's draw.

No one won the latest US Mega Millions lottery drawing, meaning the jackpot has climbed to a staggering $1.6bn. The second-largest jackpot was a $1.586 billion Powerball drawing on January 13, 2016.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 44 US states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.

All we know so far is that there was one ticket in northern California that matched five out of six numbers, according to the California Lottery and ABC7. "It's always a thrill to have both jackpots rolling, but there's an extra spark now with Mega Millions reaching a new record", he added to ABC News. At the time, three separate people purchased winning tickets: one in California, one in Florida and one in Tennessee. Route 140 in Westminster, cashiers and customers alike lined up to try their luck at the Mega Millions prize.

The previous record Mega Millions jackpot was $656 million, claimed in the drawing on March 30, 2012.

So why do the jackpots keep growing to such astronomical figures?

Saudis say 'don't know where' Khashoggi's body is
Jubeir was the first senior Saudi official to speak on the record since the Saudis admitted on Saturday that Khashoggi was dead. The crown prince has "now crossed a line and there has to be a punishment and a price paid for that", Corker said on CNN .

What were the Mega Millions winning numbers?

The previous record set was for $656 million with shared winners in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland in 2012.

Lottery Extreme says that the top 6 most common lottery numbers drawn since 1996 are: 2,17,31,39,4, and 29.

One person who bought a Mega Millions ticket at a store in Oak Forest for Friday's jackpot is now $1 million richer.

Tickets cost $2 unless you opt for the "Megaplier", which raises the price to $3.
