Ronaldo denies rape claims

Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo accused of rape

According to Us Weekly, 33-year-old Kathryn Mayorga alleges that in June 2009 Ronaldo assaulted her in his hotel suite at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

During the alleged incident, she claimed Ronaldo fell to his knees and said he was "99 per cent a good guy" who was let down by the "one per cent".

Another of the reasons Mayorga came forward is that she is curious to discover if others had been allegedly sexually assaulted by Ronaldo and if they, too, will be inspired to come forward.

"They want to be famous, to say my name", Ronaldo said.

Rape allegations against Cristiano were first reported by a German magazine in 2017, which his rep denied at the time.

Ronaldo dismissed the accusations as "fake news" in a video on Instagram. She was working at Rain nightclub in Las Vegas when she met Cristiano Ronaldo.

She claims they got in touch with her lawyer at the time and set up a private mediation. She says she struggled to maintain relationships or hold down a job.

Tony Cascarino: What is encouraging about Arsenal under Unai Emery
I said to the players at half-time, "We can either sit behind the ball and let Arsenal have it and take 2-0, or go and ask a question".

"We have worked professionally as journalists, confronted, and laid out the evidence". The identity of her former husband is unknown, but The Sun reports that he was a bartender and part-time computer repairman.

The German magazine goes on to say that Mayorga's lawyer is now "questioning the validity of that out-of-court settlement in a civil complaint in Nevada".

She said she signed only because she was "terrified of retaliation" from Ronaldo and of "being publicly humiliated", court papers claim.

Part of the deal was a clause that she would not go public with the allegations. She had taken notice of comments about the athlete's desirability, she told the magazine, including statements to the effect of, "As if Ronaldo even needs to rape a woman". Kathryn said she didn't have a swimsuit, so Ronaldo offered her something to wear.

CNN has shared that Kathryn claims he "exposed himself" as she was changing into something appropriate for the Jacuzzi. A nurse who examined her said the same thing, she says in the lawsuit.

She recalled covering herself to prevent penetration. Ronaldo then allegedly went on to have sex with her against her will.

Las Vegas police on Monday confirmed to the Associated Press that they have reopened a sexual assault case from 2009 brought by the woman named in the lawsuit.
